The official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is out - well, unofficially. We’re still expecting the official update but you could download and install this one right now, at your own risk, of course.

The ROM is version XXJVK and works on the international Galaxy S, the Samsung I9000. Android 2.3.3 brings the API level to 10 and improves Bluetooth, graphics, media framework and speech recognition.

The firmware is a leaked official ROM, but there are still risks involved in installing an unofficial, unsupported software on your phone.

If you do want to install it on your Samsung Galaxy S, you should start with these instructions and watch the step-by-step installation video. The ROM can downloaded from here (there are versions with and without a boot loader). You might want to wait for the official update, it should arrive soon (or not, you never know).

I've upgraded via Kies to 2.3.3 , GINGERBREAD.BVJV7 and now have a lot of problems with Internet transmission. When phone is switching between 2G to 3G transmission hangs . and only reboot helps.

It's not out in kies yet. This is a LEAKED pre-release version. This is, as far as Samsung is concerned, not their recommended ROM for the Galaxy S, and will still void the warranty

Samsung unleashed a truckload of Android devices for almost every price range in the market this year. Its top-of-the-line phone, the Galaxy S2, made waves among those who want a high-end phone–although it’s a bit high-end on the price, too. For those who can make do with a phone with mid-range specs and a comfortable price range, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570.

Being another Android gadget, the Galaxy Mini is susceptible to rooting and further user customization. One common method for rooting the Galaxy Mini is through the use of SuperOneClick, which, unfortunately, doesn’t work for some owners of the Galaxy Mini or turns out to be somewhat cumbersome.

Luckily, there’s an alternative method. It’s still an easy method, although it takes a little more work than the one-click solution that many have been accustomed to. In this article, you will learn how to root your Galaxy Mini by flashing an update file to your phone. The update files used in this method were originally meant for the Samsung Galaxy Ace, but it was discovered that the same update works for the Galaxy Mini, too. Android flash tool download for pc.

Before you go ahead with the steps, remember that you are hacking your phone at your own risk. There are no guarantees that this method will work for your device, and we are not responsible for any damage that arise from your following of the instructions in this guide. If you are willing to take the risks, go ahead and follow the instructions below.

Requirements

  • Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread or Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread
  • Rooting update files. Get them here (upd_1.zip, 924.75 KB)

Instructions

  1. Download and save the update files to your computer. The files are compressed into one ZIP file. Do not extract the file’s contents.
  2. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  3. Copy the update file to the root directory of your phone’s storage. Make sure that you don’t place it deep inside subfolders as there might be a chance it won’t be detected.
  4. Reboot your phone and enter recovery mode. You can enter recovery mode by simultaneously pressing down the Power and the Menu (middle) buttons.
  5. Once inside recovery mode, use the volume keys to navigate around the menus and options and use the Power button to make selections.
  6. From the recovery mode menu, select “Update from SD card”.
  7. Browse through the contents of your SD card and locate the update file that you have just copied. The rooting process will start right after you select the ZIP file.
  8. The whole rooting process may take up to 5 – 10 minutes. After flashing the ZIP file, simply reboot your phone.
